Q: How many credits should I take as a Community College student in order to keep my athletic eligibility from beginning?
A: Less than (12). Once you take (12) credits you become a full time student and begin your athletic eligibility.
Q: Will my community college credits transfer?
A: Depends on the courses you take and the policy of the school you will be attending. You should check with the four year schools you are interested in to see which courses they will accept and which courses they won't.
Q: Is it easier to gain admission as a transfer applicant?
A: If you do well in your community college courses, it will increase you chances of acceptence at four year universities by displaying that you can handle the rigors of college level work. If you do poorly it will not help your chances much at all.
Q: What if I am playing Junior Hockey, should I take community college courses?
A: Yes. It is difficult to gain admission to four year schools if you have been out of school for one or two years. It also allows you to learn how to manage your time between hockey, travel and academics while potentially allowing you to earn and transfer college credits.
