A: No. NCAA playing rules vary slightly from NHL playing rules. Some notable differences are the NCAA plays automatic icing, while the NHL plays touch icing. NCAA players are required to wear a full face shield. Fighting in NCAA hockey is not permitted and carries a two game suspension. Also, the rink size may differ from school to school in the NCAA while all NHL teams play on a standard 200' x 85' sheet.

A: Some. Men's and Women's NCAA Division I schools can offer scholarships. They are permitted 18 scholarships per team. NCAA Division II schools can offer scholarships. They are permitted 13.5 scholarships per team. NCAA Division III men's and women's programs do not offer athletic scholarships for ice hockey.

A: No. NCAA schools are required to pay for student athletes expenses related to participation in their athletic program.
A: When a player enters an NCAA school as a freshmen, that players has (4) years of eligibility. Eligibility expires (5) years after beginning of that players freshmen year. There are certain exceptions for medical related issues.
Q: How many games do NCAA teams play?
A: NCAA teams play approximately 35 games per season plus playoffs.
Q: How often do NCAA teams practice?
A: NCAA teams typically practice between 4-5 times per week. Teams usually practice Monday -Thursday with games on Friday and Saturday. Sunday is typically an off day.
