A: Yes. The ACHA and NCAA use the same playing rules.

A: No. The ACHA does not permit member schools to offer ice hockey scholarships.
Q: Since ACHA schools fund themselves, is there a cost to players?
A: Yes, in most cases. Some programs receive finacnial support from the school, but most teams fund themselves through player dues and fundraising. Costs can range from $0 -$2500 depending on the program and amount of travel.
A: Players are typically eligible to play 5 seasons at the ACHA level. There are some instances when a player transfers from a higher level school that restricts the amount of time that player is permitted to play.
Q: How many games do ACHA teams play?
A: ACHA teams are not limited to the amount of games they can schedule. Most Men's ACHA teams play approximately 35 games per season similar to the NCAA. Women's ACHA teams may play less since there are fewer teams and it is more costly to travel.
Q: How often do ACHA teams practice?
A: ACHA Division I and II teams usually practice 2- 4 times per week plus off ice training. ACHA Division III teams may practice less depending on their budget. The elite ACHA teams are run similar to NCAA varsity programs.
Q: What levels does the ACHA hold national championships?
A: All. The ACHA holds a national tournament for all Mens' and Women's divisions.
